Bright.md, a Portland, Oregon-based healthcare automation company, closed an $8m Series C round of funding.
The round, which brought total funding raised to date to $20.5m, was co-led by B Capital and Seven Peaks Ventures. B Capital General Partner Karen Page has joined Bright.md’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand the presence and function of its AI-powered, virtual-care platform SmartExam, and to new markets; and increase headcount.
Led by Ray Costantini, M.D., co-founder and CEO, Bright.md provides its SmartExam™ capacity-boosting care-delivery platform to hospitals and healthcare systems across the United States and Canada.
SmartExam works like a virtual physician’s assistant automating a primary or urgent care visit, boosting provider efficiency and increasing capacity to treat hundreds of patients in a single provider shift. By automatically combining patient-intake data, interview information, electronic health records and clinical-workflow integration, the platform enables providers to rapidly diagnose and treat patients with low-acuity conditions, escalating those with more serious conditions to a higher level of care.
Healthcare systems use it to deliver treatment for hundreds of conditions, such as flu, pediatrics, dermatology, muscular-skeletal and behavioral health issues.
The company is working with some of the largest health systems in the country that provide care to tens of millions of patients across more than half of the United States and Canada.
