Tarana Wireless Inc., a Milpitas, Calif.-based developer of a residential broadband platform, received $24m of follow-on preferred equity with commitments for $36m of additional preferred equity through October 2020.
Backers included existing investors EchoStar, Khosla Ventures and 1010 Holdings.
The company will use the funds for the completion of its pre-commercial efforts, including readiness for mass production of its Tarana G1™ Gigabit residential broadband platform and expansion of its Silicon Valley-based live demonstration network which currently provides broadband connectivity to over 100 sites – mostly non-line of sight – at distances up to 15 km from a single sector base-node.
Led by founder and Chief Operating Officer Sergiu Nedevschi, Tarana provides fixed wireless access network solutions featuring radio technology with immunity to obstructions, interference, changing conditions and spectrum scarcity. The company also has a development site in Pune, India.
