Vodafone to Acquire IoT Solution Provider grandcentrix

vodafoneLeading telecoms and technology service provider Vodafone GmbH is to acquire grandcentrix, a Cologne, Germany-based IoT solution provider.

Subject to approval by the Bundeskartellamt, the takeover by Vodafone is to be completed by 01.01.2020.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

With this strategic acquisition, Vodafone intends to strengthen its IoT business. In conjunction with the agreement, High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), the only institutional investor to back grandcentrix, exited the company.

Founded in Dortmund in 2009 and led by Ralf Rottmann, and Martin Willnow, managing directors, grandcentrix is a system integrator for Internet of Things, Smart Products and Distributed Ledger Technologies. With more than 150 experts from the areas of embedded development, cyber-physical systems security, IoT cloud platform development and operation, machine learning and front-end development, the company helps small and medium-sized enterprises bring their products including cameras, washing machine, Smart Home devices, jukebox or professional tools to the Internet of Things. Companies such as Miele, Viessmann, Husqvarna, Reifenhäuser and Leica use the company’s services throughout the entire product development process – from conceptual design to the market launch of a new product.
