ShopblocksShopblocks, a Stockport, UK-based e-commerce platform, raised £500k in funding.

Backers included the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s GM Investment Fund, existing investor Dow Schofield Watts Angels (DSW Angels), and members of the management team.

The company intends to use the funds to expand in the UK and in the US, having already established dedicated sites for the New Zealand and Australian markets.

Founded in 2015 by its CEO Kevin Jones, Shopblocks provides a platform that allows businesses to create their own website, from a simple homepage to a complete online store. Its technology allows online businesses to manage their own site, and provides an optional onboarding service to manage the entire set-up on customers’ behalf.
Customers range from startups to major online retailers.
The business currently employs 20 people and is planning to create an additional 37 jobs for developers, sales and support staff.
