Because Animals Raises Seed Funding Round

Because Animals Inc., the Cultured Pet Food Company™, a Philadelphia, PA-based bioscience startup making pet food without animal meat, closed a seed round of funding of undisclosed amount.

Backers included Keen Growth Capital, Draper Associates and SOSV.

The company intends to use the funds to bring bring cultured meat pet food to the marketplace by 2021.

Co-founded by CEO Dr. Shannon Falconer and and Joshua Errett, MBA, Because Animals launched their first product, a cultured probiotic supplement, in 2018. The all-natural, human-grade supplement, one for cats and one for dogs, contains over 250 million probiotics per gram.
Last week, the company announced the pre-sale launch of their certified organic, human-grade dog cookie, Noochies™.
Its marquee product, a line of cultured meat pet food products, will be released in 2021.
