Bellwether Coffee Raises $40M in Series B Funding

Bellwether CoffeeBellwether Coffee, a Berkeley, CA-based coffee technology company, raised $40m in Series B funding.

The round was led by DBL Partners and brothers Lyndon and Peter Rive, with participating from FusionX, Congruent Ventures, Coffee Bell, Tandem Capital, Spindrift Equities, XN Ventures, Balius Partners and Hardware Club. In conjunction with the funding, Nancy Pfund, founder and managing partner of DBL Partners, and Lyndon Rive, will join Bellwether’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by CEO Nathan Gilliland, Bellwether Coffee provides and electric, ventless, zero-emissions, Bellwether Roaster and roasting software to make coffee roasting more accessible, and more sustainable for the environment and communities. Customers, who range from coffee retailers, to cafes, local grocers and national chains, can access to the world of coffee, where they can execute roast profiles (or create their own) exactly as intended, no matter the operator, location or environment.
Additionally, the platform provides access to a curated marketplace of green coffee from farms around the world, inventory management tools, and data analytics from its connected software.

The roaster is available to business owners through lease and purchase options.
