WeTransfer, an Amsterdam, The Netherlands-based file sharing service company, raised €35m in Series B funding.

The round was led by HPE Growth, with participation from existing investors Highland Europe. Some existing stakeholders’ shares were sold.

Jonne de Leeuw, of HPE, will replace co-founder Nalden on the company’s Supervisory Board, joining Bas Beerens (Founder, WeTransfer), Irena Goldenberg (Highland Europe) and Tony Zappalà (Highland Europe).

Founded in 2009 and led by Gordon Willoughby, CEO, WeTransfer operates the popular file sharing service for the creative community, as well as editorial platform WePresent, mobile app Collect, immersive sketching tool Paper® and collaborative presentation tool Paste®.
The original file transfer product has driven growth to over 50M users, who send more than a billion files each month.

The company, which also expanded its US presence from LA to New York City, will leverage HPE’s expertise to recruit talent to develop its tools faster.
