Valar Ventures Raises $150M For Fund V

Valar Ventures, a New York­-based venture capital firm, raised $150m for its Fund V.

Valar Fund V – the firm’s largest flagship venture capital fund raised to date by the firm – was backed by 57 investors.

Founded by Andrew McCormack, James Fitzgerald and Peter Thiel (which is not included neither in the website nor in the SEC filing), Valar is a venture capital firm with a core thesis indicating that a number of transformative technology companies are being started outside of Silicon Valley, and that the founders of those companies would benefit from having a partner that understands their unique challenges and opportunities and can help them achieve optimal growth while retaining substantial equity and control. The firm can also follow-on significantly as a business scales.
