Squad Raises $5M In Seed Funding

squadSquad, a San Francisco, CA-based social screen sharing and group video chat app, raised $5m in seed funding.

The round was led by First Round Capital with participation from Betaworks, Y Combinator, Alpha Bridge Ventures, Day One Ventures, Jane VC, Gina Bianchini, and Sebastian Gil, the 4th employee at Snapchat.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by CEO Esther Crawford, Squad is a social screen sharing and group video chat app that lets users hang out with friends in their favorite apps. With Squad, people can have a shared experience with friends by watching YouTube videos together, responding to texts and DMs, planning a vacation on Airbnb, shopping with favorite brands, exploring dating apps, and more.
The app, available in the iOS app store, and on Android, has had more than 380,000 active users since January 2019.
