Mews, a London, England, UK-based technology company focused on improving hotel, hostel and apartment operations and guest experience management, raised $33m in Series B funding.
The round was led by Battery Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Battery Principal Sanjiv Kalevar joined the Mews board of directors and Battery General Partner Michael Brown joined as board observer.
The company will use the funds to further accelerate expansion in the U.S. and launch its office in New York City where founder Richard Valtr will be based.
Led by CEO Matthijs Welle, Mews provides cloud-based property management software for hotels, hostels and apartment groups to automate their operations so they can focus on their guests. The company’s open platform allows hoteliers to plug in their favorite apps, tools and services and to manage their PMS from any device and at any time.
Currently, Mews works with over 130,000 beds at over 1,000 properties across 47 countries and is enabling its hospitality customers to transact over $150 million each month in hotel and ancillary purchases.
Users include European-based global chain Accor, African hotel powerhouse Tsogo Sun, hip hostel group Generator, and new hospitality players like the Collective or the LifeHouse Group.
