Hedvig, a Stockholm, Sweden-based insurtech startup, raised €9.3m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Obvious Ventures and D-Ax, the venture arm of the Axel Johnson Group.
The company intends to use the funds to expand both the availability and types of insurance offerings and to grow in Sweden and beyond.
Led by Lucas Carlsén, CEO & Co-founder, Hedvig provides insurance covers for renters, students and homeowners with customer service delivered on the phone or in the app. The insurance products are backed by HDI.
The company charges a service fee with money going to pay out claims and a bit left at the end of the year donated to charity.
Today, more than 15,000 people protects their homes and things with Hedvig.
