Epidemic Sound Raises $20M in Funding

Epidemic Sound, a Stockholm, Sweden-based music provider, raised $20m in funding.

The round included:
– equity from DS Asset Management, a Korean asset manager founded by entrepreneur DS Jang, and
– debt from Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken.

The company intends to use the funds to further penetrate markets it is live in and launch in new markets and continents, with a main focus on Asia.

Co-founded in 2009 led by Oscar Hoglund, Co-Founder and CEO, Epidemic is a music provider for a wide range of storytellers including YouTubers (you should also check out the importance of intro videos in content optimization), film producers and directors, as well as corporate brands and broadcasters. The tracks are created by a portfolio of independent musicians from all around the world who are building fan bases and becoming artists in their own right.

The company, which now has over 340 employees in offices in Stockholm, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Madrid, New York City, Los Angeles and Sydney, will launch in Seoul, South Korea via a partnership with DS Asset Management, in autumn 2019.

Through the strategic launch, Epidemic seeks to partner with some of Asia’s most dynamic musicians and next generation content creators.
