Wolt, a Helsinki, Finland-based food delivery service, secured a $130m Series C funding.
The round was led by Iconiq Capital with participation from Highland Europe, alongside existing investors EQT Ventures, Lifeline Ventures, 83North and Supercell co-founder & CEO Ilkka Paananen.
The company intends to use the funds for the expansion into new markets and hiring across operational countries growint the team to 1,000 by the end of 2020.
Founded in 2014 by Miki Kuusi, CEO, Wolt give people the chance to discover and get food from local restaurants delivered to their home or office via their mobile. In over a year, the company has expanded from operations in four countries and 10 cities in the Nordics to a total of 15 countries and 50 cities across EMEA. It now works with more than 5,000 restaurants and 10,000 couriers partners.
Wolt now employs more than 450 people and continues to build its proprietary technology with a development team of 80 people.
