Rocean, a New York City-based provider of a smart water countertop device, raised over $6m in financing.
The round was led by Blue, a global investment firm focused on sustainable solutions, with participation from John Legend; Black Coffee; Reshma Saujani; Phil Molyneux; Peter Carlsson; and Rohan Oza.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its first product.
Founded by serial entrepreneurs and concerned citizens Sunjay Guleria, Mohini Boparai Guleria, and Dr. Lee von Kraus, Rocean is the maker of the Rocean One, a personalizable, reusable water ecosystem with filtration that also carbonates, flavors and enhances tap water.
The company’s multi-use pods give users a selection of natural fruit flavors, supplements, and enhancements at a lower cost and total carbon footprint of pre-packaged beverages. Their patent-pending micro-dosing system supports two pods at once, letting users mix their favorite flavors and enhancements to their personal preference.
The first units of the the device will be shipping late summer 2019.
