OpenSesame Raises $28M in Growth Equity Funding

opensesameOpenSesame, a Portland, Oregon-based elearning company providing a comprehensive online catalog of curated employee training courses, raised $28m in growth equity funding.

The round was led by FTV Capital with participation from existing investor Altos Ventures. As part of the transaction, FTV partner Chris Winship will join the OpenSesame board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to:

  • continue enhancing its machine learning-driven curation tools,
  • expand its course offerings, and
  • scale its sales and marketing functions to serve businesses worldwide.

Led by Don Spear, CEO, OpenSesame provides companies with solutions to develop productive workforces. It operates a comprehensive catalog of over 20,000 elearning courses from hundreds of the world’s top publishers and support companies in ensuring the success of their training programs.
The company supports companies in finding courses, mapping them to core competencies, syncing them with a learning management system (LMS) to increase utilization and improve learning & development (L&D) programs.
OpenSesame currently serves a wide range of clients, including governments and Global 2000 companies in services, manufacturing, technology, and highly regulated industries such as financial services and health care.
