good dogGood Dog, a New York City-based marketplace to use expert-backed vetting standards to get a dog from a responsible breeder, shelter or rescue, raised $6.7m in funding.

Backers included BoxGroup, Felicis, Slow Ventures, Fuel Capital, BarkBox, SV Angel, and angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to scale the business, and grow the team.

Founded by Josh Wais and Lauren McDevitt, early Jet employees and former co-founders of Wantworthy, Good Dog aims to bring transparency and accountability to the complicated process of getting a dog.
The company’s marketplace uses expert-backed vetting standards that allow people to get a dog from a responsible breeder, shelter or rescue.

Through the platform, potential dog owners have access to comprehensive profiles of a community of partners and can connect with each of them directly. Prospective owners can browse the Learning Center and when they’re ready, can submit their application to one of the company’s partners. Partners get all the information they need about each potential owner to determine whether they are the right fit for their dogs.
