F45 Training Secures Growth Equity Investment

f45F45 Training, an Australian-born fitness franchise, received a minority investment from a group led by Mark Wahlberg and FOD Capital.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the proceeds to continue growth within the fitness industry globally and increase brand awareness, specifically in the high-growth U.S. market. The new partnership will enable F45 to improve its systems and processes to the benefit of members and franchisees while continuing to deliver its training workout to enthusiasts across the globe.

Founded in 2012 by CEO Rob Deutsch and his business partner Adam Gilchrist, F45 Training offers a team training workout merging three separate fitness training styles – high-intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, and functional training – into one.
This combination has led to the development of 36 unique 45-minute workout experiences, with additional workouts under development by the F45 Athletics Department.
The daily workouts vary the amount of exercise stations, the work time/rest time ratio and the number of repetitions through a daily exercise circuit. This combination of interval, cardiovascular and strength training has been proven to be the most effective workout method for burning fat and building lean muscle.

The company has grown to over 1,500 studios across 40 countries.
