Packback, a Chicago, IL-based edtech company, raised $2.5m in funding.
The round was led by University Ventures, with participation from Hyde Park Angels.
The company will use the new capital to maintain its growth as it continues to expand its user base and team, with 45 new jobs.
Led by CEO Mike Shannon, CPO Jessica Tenuta, Vice President of Sales Roberto Torreggiani, and Head of Engineering Dr. Craig M. Booth, Packback is an education technology company proviing a platform, Packback Questions, an ‘AI-supported’ online discussion platform that supports student curiosity, communication and critical thinking skills.
The platform delivers a scalable asynchronous discussion experience using AI for automation of moderation and coaching, features that allows professors yo scale their impact, and service and support.
In 2018, the company added 25+ new employees and expects to grow to 100 employees by the end of 2019.
In addition to the funding, board member Dr. James Caras, CEO of Catalyst Education and previously the founder of Sapling Learning, joined the board of Packback.
