BlaBlaCar Secures €101M in Funding; to Acquire Ouibus

blablacarBlaBlaCar, a Paris, France-based long-distance carpooling platform, secured €101m in funding.

Backers included SNCF and existing investors.

The company also made an offer to acquire Ouibus, a subsidiary of SNCF and a French bus operator, to broaden its mobility offer beyond carpooling.

Led by Roland de Barbentane, CEO, Ouibus has built a bus network connecting 300 large cities in France and Europe, and has transported more than 12 million passengers.
Led by Frédéric Mazzella, President and Founder of BlaBlaCar, and Nicolas Brusson, co-Founder and CEO, BlaBlaCar has built a long-distance carpooling community of over 65 million members in 22 countries.
The acquisition would enable it to widen its offer, which will also be open to other local bus partners and operators across Europe. The deal would increase its ability to address differing travel needs such as advance and last-minute booking, price sensitivity and destination granularity.
