Kite Hill Closes $40M Funding Round

kitehillKite Hill, a Hayward, CA-based maker of chef-inspired plant-based foods, completed a $40m funding.

The round, which expected to close within a month, was led by 301 INC, the new business development and venturing unit at General Mills, with participation from Cavu Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to increase its capacity, invest in marketing, innovation and people to accelerate growth.

Led by Rob Leibowitz, CEO, and Co-founder and Chef Tal Ronnen, Kite Hill is the creator of plant-based alternatives to traditional dairy products. The full product line, consisting of Greek and European style yogurts, cream cheese style spreads, soft cheeses and ravioli is sold through Whole Foods Markets, Publix Super Markets, Target, and natural and specialty grocery retailers nationwide.
