Tamr Secures $10M in Additional Funding

tamrTamr Inc., a Cambridge, MA-based provider of a data unification platform, closed $10m in new equity funding.

Backers included participation from Pear Tree Partners and Granite Hill Capital Partners.

The new financing adds to the company’s recent $18m raise announced in July.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to grow operations.

Co-founded by Andy Palmer, CEO, and Mike Stonebraker, Tamr provides an enterprise-scale data unification platform, which uses machine learning supplemented with customers’ knowledge to unify and prepare data across myriad silos to deliver insights.
The solution – based on the company’s patented enterprise data unification software platform, Unify, is used by companies like GE, Toyota, Thomson Reuters, and GSK.

Tamr also announced the appointment of new Board Observers in conjunction with its recent financing including:

  • John McClellan, Partner at Pear Tree Partners;
  • Masataka Otomo, Venture Capitalist at SBI Investment; and
  • Mona Vernon, CTO of Thomson Reuters Labs.
