Edtech Startup Magikbee Raises $250K in Funding

magikbeeMagikbee, a Braga, Portugal-based edtech startup, secured a $250k round of funding.

The latest round, which valued the company at $3.3m, is funded by:
– Portuguese angel investor Ideias Glaciares, which also led the first round,
– Bluemind Investments, and
– James Fitzgerald, Global Vice-President of cloud services company ServiceNow, who will join Magikbee’s Board.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its product portfolio and grow globally.

Led by Hugo Ribeiro, CEO, Magikbee has developed a number of innovative technologies in the education segment including Magik Play, a set of interactive building blocks that synch with the iPad, and a video streaming app for preschoolers called kiddZtube.
In addition, the company recently launched Magik Book, a paper catalog that links to a tablet, with digital content synchronized to each page.

Magikbee is a member of the Portuguese Startup Braga Innovation Hub and a Microsoft Ventures partner.
