Domicile Raises $5M in Seed Financing

Domicile, a Seattle, WA-based developer of technology-driven business accommodation platform, raised $5m in seed funding.

A major portion of the round, $3.6m, represents new money coming from VCs and several angel investors, including Crosscut Ventures, Madrona Venture Group, Spencer Rascoff (CEO, Zillow Group), Jeff Wilke (CEO, Amazon Worldwide Consumer), Erik Blachford (ex-CEO, Expedia) and Greg Schwartz (President, Zillow Group).

The company intends to use the funds to invest in the technology platform and expand to new markets.

Incubated within Madrona Venture Labs and co-founded by Simon Tam, Ross Saario and Eve Vashkus, Domicile partners with corporate customers to provide all their hospitality needs, whether it be transient accommodation or longer-term stays. Its apartments are custom designed with modern, stylish furnishings and decoration and located near business centers while also offering 24×7 customer support. In addition to paying per stay, companies can pay a fixed monthly rate for a Domicile managed apartment for their exclusive use and utilize it for both short-term and long-term stays.

The company will soon be launching a mobile app focused on making the self-service check-in experience easier, integrating services such as ordering food or groceries that will be pre-stocked prior to a guest’s arrival, rolling out in-room technology and creating an improved personalization platform.
