data.world Raises $12M in Third Funding Round

data worlddata.world, an Austin, TX-based provider of a platform for modern data teamwork and a collaborative data community, raised $12m in third funding round.

Backers included Workday Ventures, The Associated Press, and OurCrowd.

The investment brings data.world’s total funding to $45.3m since its launch in 2016.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to advance the platform.

Led by Brett Hurt, co-founder and CEO, data.world provides a platform for modern data teamwork. Their enterprise catalog for data and analysis uncovers the hidden data workforce within every company, and unifies silos, to create deep connections between data, people, and impact.

The new partnership with data.world allows Workday users to augment their enterprise data and analysis with the public data available on data.world provided by hundreds of data partners, including the US Census, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Commerce.
Workday Ventures is joined in the investment by AP, one of data.world’s earliest customers, which utilizes the platform to share newsworthy data sets with news outlets it serves across the country.
