WeTransfer Acquires Creativity Tool Maker FiftyThree

FiftyThree-PaperAmsterdam, The Netherlands-based WeTransfer acquired New York and Seattle-based FiftyThree Inc., the maker of immersive sketching app Paper® and presentation tool for fast-moving teams Paste™.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company acquired the team, the entire patent/IP and trademark portfolio, and all assets for the applications from the company. The acquisition will enable the company to expand its suite of services for creatives.

Founded in 2009 and led by Gordon Willoughby, CEO, WeTransfer provides:
– a file sharing service (with 42 million monthly users and over a billion files sent each month),
– WePresent, an editorial platform with 2 million monthly readers,
– WeTransfer for Mobile (with 5 million monthly users).

Founded in 2011 by CEO Georg Petschnigg and Andrew Allen, FiftyThree provides Paper, an immersive sketching app, which has been downloaded over 25 million times, and Paste, a collaborative tool combines team communication, applications, and workflows in slides fast.
The Paper and Paste teams in New York and Seattle will join WeTransfer to continue to grow and develop WeTransfer’s suite of creative tools.
