Digital Health Startup Klara Raises $11.5M in Series A

klaraKlara, a NYC-based digital health startup, raised $11.5m in Series A funding.

The round was led by FirstMark Capital with participation from existing investors Project A, Lerer Hippeau, Atlantic Labs, and Creathor Ventures as well as Zac Weinberg, Nat Turner, and Clark Valberg. In conjunction with the funding, Amish Jani joined the Klara’s board.

The company intends to use the funds to drive forwards with its product roadmap, working on automating numerous manual workflows, building out the API, to integrate with EHRs and enable 3rd party apps to live inside the Klara messaging UI, as well as enhancing its cross-practice network capabilities.

Led by founders and co-CEOs Simon Bolz and Simon Lorenz, Klara provides a HIPAA-compliant health messaging platform that aims to streamline patient communication and increase operational efficiency across a practice.
The service allows the departments of a practice, doctors, physician’s assistants, nurses to communicate via text about a patient’s diagnosis and treatment and the medical staff to communicate directly with a patient regarding scheduling and treatment.

The plaform is currently being used by thousands of doctors and their associates who communicate with hundreds of thousands of patients.
