Codeverse Secures $10M in Funding

Codeverse Codeverse, a Chicago, IL-based interactive classroom and platform designed to teach children ages 6 to 12 the skill of coding, raised $10m in seed funding.

The company intends to use the funds to support additional market growth and investment in the KidScript coding platform. It is expanding its reach by bringing two new studios to the Chicago area, Wilmette and Naperville. The new studios, opening in Fall/Winter 2018, will offer after-school and weekend classes as well as weeklong camps.

Led by Craig Ulliott, CEO, and Katy Lynch, CMO, Codeverse is an iteractive coding studio for kids aged 6 to 12. It opened in Lincoln Park in July 2017, with new locations in Wilmette and Naperville set to open in Fall/Winter 2018. The company, which has plans to expand both nationally and internationally, also launched (in July 2017) KidScript, its proprietary kid-friendly coding language, used to teach the fundamentals of coding through the studios daily classroom and camp programming. With KidScript, kids as young as 6 can build their own apps and games, as well as program hardware within the companies interactive studios, including concert-hall lights, speakers, TV’s and robotic arms.

The Codeverse team has quickly expanded to include:
– Priya Mathew, SVP Product, previously Product at Google and VP of Product and Design at eSpark Learning
– Rose Coughlen, Director of Programming, formerly a Manager of STEAM Programming at the Girl Scouts
– Lindsey Whalen, VP North America, previously Regional Manager at Lululemon
