Autonomous Aviation Startup Xwing Raises $4m in Seed Funding

Xwing, a San Francisco, CA-based autonomous aviation startup, raised $4m in seed funding.

The round was led by Eniac Ventures, with participation from Array Ventures and angels including John and Patrick Collison, and Nat Friedman.

The company intends to use the funds to scale operations and continue to hire aerospace and software engineers.

Founded in 2016 and led by CEO Marc Piette and CTO Maxime Gariel, Xwing focuses on building the software stack that will enable pilotless flight of personal aerial vehicles considering the main capabilities of autonomous aircraft, which are sense, reason, and control. To this end, the company develops and integrates technologies for rotorcraft, fixed-wing airplanes, and the new emerging electric vertical and takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for each of these capabilities.
