Unacademy Raises $21M in Series C Funding

UnacademyUnacademy, an Indian learning platform, raised $21M in Series C funding.

Backers included Sequoia India, SAIF Partners, and Nexus Venture Partners and existing investors including Blume Ventures.

The company, which has raised $38.6m in total so far, intends to use the funds to onboard new educators, accelerate growth in various categories and enhance product and technology.

Co-founded by Roman Saini, Gaurav Munjal, and Hemesh Singh, Unacademy provides a platform which makes educational videos available for free for everyone.
It features a large online knowledge repository for multi-lingual education.
In October 2017, the company also launched ‘Plus’ courses on its platform with a private discussion forum, live video classes, and a personalized classroom learning environment with its top educators. Currently, more than 30 educators take paid ‘Plus’ courses on the platform apart from the lessons that are also available for free.
