Zapata Computing Raises $5.4M in Seed Funding

Zapata Computing, a Cambridge, MA-based quantum software startup, raised a $5.4M in seed funding.

The round was co-led by The Engine, the venture firm founded by MIT to invest in tough tech startups, and Boston-based Pillar VC, with participation from FF Science and Prelude Ventures.

Founded in 2017 by CSO Alán Aspuru-Guzik, CEO Christopher Savoie, Yudong Cao, Jonathan Olson, Peter Johnson and Jhonathan Romero based on technology developed at Harvard University, Zapata is building quantum technologies to enable the next generation of accessible, commercial high-performance computing.

Established to commercialize the quantum algorithms research conducted in the lab of Aspuru-Guzik, Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, the company has entered into an exclusive license agreement with Harvard’s Office of Technology Development.
