Soft Robotics Raises $20M in Funding

Soft Robotics, a Cambridge, Mass.-based industrial robotics company, raised $20M in funding.

The round was led by with Hyperplane Venture Capital with participation from new investors Scale Venture Partners, Calibrate Ventures, Honeywell Ventures, Tekfen Ventures, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., and existing investors Material Impact, ABB Technology Ventures, Taylor Farms Ventures and Haiyin Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Rory O’Driscoll from Scale Venture Partners and Kevin Dunlap from Calibrate Ventures joined Soft Robotics’ Board of Directors.

The company is using the funds to accelerate commercial penetration plans and new product roadmap.

Led by CEO Carl Vause, Soft Robotics enables robotic automation for large markets and labor starved industries such as food and beverage, advanced manufacturing and e-commerce. Leveraging patented material science and AI algorithms, the company designs and builds automation solutions and soft robotic gripping systems that can grasp and manipulate items.
