beautystack Raises Under $1M in Seed Funding

beautystack, a London, UK-based social commerce network for beauty professionals, raised just under $1m in seed funding.

Backers included early angel investors and LocalGlobe.

The company intends to use the funds to continue developing the platform and to launch a mobile app this summer.

Co-founded by Sharmadean Reid, Dan Woodbury and Ken Lalobo, beautystack is building a social commerce app for beauty professionals around the world to generate bookings directly from their social content.
The image-based platform, still in beta, provides beauty professionals with tools to brand themselves online, manage clients and take bookings via a visual menu.
Early users are currently able to build their own site or blog, upload their work and take bookings directly from social media image posts. Customers will be able to book with beauty professionals from images of the finished treatment.

Beauty pros will join the app by invitation initially and will pay a small booking fee for each treatment with a monthly subscription for pros who want web hosting, customization and partner integrations. The platform will eventually earn money from partnerships with brands.
