BrowserStack Closes $50M Series A Funding

BrowserStack, a Mumbai, India-based web and mobile browser testing platform, raised $50m in Series A funding.

Accel made the minority equity investment. In conjunction with the funding, Ryan Sweeney, Partner at Accel, will join BrowserStack’s board of directors.

The company, which also announced the opening of its new North American headquarters in San Francisco, intends to use the funds to expand its team and raise global brand awareness.

Founded in 2011 by serial entrepreneurs Ritesh Arora and Nakul Aggarwal, BrowserStack provides a cloud web and mobile testing platform for developers across the globe to ensure that software is free of bugs and agile to deploy in order to deliver a high quality product and user experience.
The platform enables developers to test websites and mobile applications across more than 1,200 real mobile devices, browsers and operating systems.

Bootstrapped since its inception, the company has built a global customer base made of over 25,000 unique paying customers, from startups to large enterprises, including Microsoft, Twitter, Mastercard, Barclays, Gap, TD Ameritrade, Lincoln Financial, mytoys and Yahoo! Japan, and over two million developers in 135 countries.
More than half of the company’s customers are based in North America.
