Balderton Capital Closes New $375m Tech Venture Capital Fund

Balderton Capital, a London, UK-based venture capital firm, closed a new $375m fund.

The new vehicle has been raised from new and existing investors from Europe, the U.S. and Asia,

Led by Bernard Liautaud, Managing Partner, Balderton Capital will use the new fund to support a new generation of European-born global tech businesses at their Series A-stage.

The firm has already backed MySQL, Betfair, Yoox Net-a-Porter, Magic Pony, and NaturalMotion. The current portfolio includes 76 companies Aircall, Carwow, Citymapper, Contentful, GoCardless, The Hut Group, Nutmeg, Prodigy Finance, Recorded Future, Revolut, ROLI, SOPHiA Genetics, Talend (NASDAQ: TLND), Vestiaire Collective, and Vivino.
Balderton Capital currently manages $2.6bn AUM.

In addition to the fund closing, the firm has released a new report on Employee Equity which outlines:
– why give equity to employees
– how equity compensation works and why it should be used
– how to engineer a fair and efficient plan
– how to navigate the many complex issues that implementation in different European companies.
