Steve Allpress Joins BGF Ventures as Entrepreneur In Residence

Steve Allpress, co-founder of Five AI & Icera, has joined BGF Ventures, a UK-based venture capital firm dedicated to earlier stage UK technology companies, as Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR).

Known in the wireless communications, silicon chip and machine learning fields, Allpress will split his time between London and Bristol spending a couple of days a week working with BGF Ventures’ portfolio companies and assessing new investment leads.

In 2002, he co-founded Icera Inc., a cellular modem chip company where he was CTO. The Bristol-based business was bought by Nvidia Corporation of Santa Clara in 2011 for $435m and Allpress remained at NVIDIA, post-acquisition, as Senior Vice President. In 2015, he co-founded and was CTO of Five AI, the self-driving software company that recently announced $35M in new funding. Before starting Icera, Allpress was a researcher at AT&T Bell Labs in the US for eight years before joining Broadcom Corp. in California to start their cellular communications business.
