Onfido, a London, UK-based identity verification provider, raised $30M in funding.
The round, which brings total funding to over $60M to date, was led by Crane Venture Partners with participation from Microsoft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and other current investors.
The company intends to use the funds for research and development in machine learning technology, and expand into US and other international markets.
Led by Husayn Kassai, CEO and co-founder, Onfido provides businesses with a platform to digitally verify people’s identities. Using machine learning technology, Onfido validates a user’s identity document and compares it with their facial biometrics. The identity can then be cross-referenced against international credit and watchlist databases.
The company is headquartered in London, and has offices in San Francisco, New York, Lisbon and New Delhi employing a total of 150 employees.
