Claim it!, a NYC-based mobile social marketplace, raised $2.5m in seed funding.
The round was led by Newark Venture Partners with participation from Infor, Steve Sadove and NBA players Thaddeus Young and Al Harrington.
The company will use the funds to continue to develop the app and expand operations.
Led by Ali Abdullah, CEO, Claim it! offers an app for people to discover, give, or share free items from national brands, local businesses and people in their neighborhood and for local brands to promote their storefront, brand or services, for free with people nearby, and national brands to give samples, services, e-gift cards, daily deals, last-minute offers or promote events, for free, as well as to leverage a self-service tool to instantly give, create a buzz, drive brand awareness and acquire new customers.
