Chef’d Raises $35.2M in Strategic Funding

Chef’d, a NY and El Segundo, CA-based meal kit delivery service, raised $35.2m in strategic funding.

The round was reportedly led by Smithfield Foods ($25m) with participation from Campbell Soup ($10 m) and Fresh Direct ($200k).

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations.

Founded in 2013 by CEO Kyle Ransford, Chef’d delivers meals to consumers who can order them from a wide selection of breakfasts, lunches and dinners for different lifestyles e.g. for people who don’t eat meat, who eat gluten-free, for vegetarians and vegans.
In addition to partnering with chefs, culinary influencers, and national brands, the company is developing its own portfolio of dishes.
