Light Polymers Raises $5M in Series B Funding Round

Light Polymers, a San Francisco, CA-based nanochemistry startup, raised $5m in a Series B funding round.

The round was led by Tsingda International Venture Capital and TEL Venture Capital.

The company intends to use the proceeds for strategic projects and a related acquisition that will be announced soon.

Founded in 2013 by Marc McConnaughey, President and CEO, Light Polymers is a nanochemistry company with deep domain knowledge of lyotropic liquid crystals, which have many applications that include LCD and OLED flat panel displays, LED lighting, advanced building materials and biomedical.
The company, which has R&D operations in Silicon Valley, Taiwan and Korea, will set up a joint development laboratory in Songshan Lake with TICD.
