Uala Acquires Majority Stake in Bucmi

Uala.it, a Milan, Italy-based beauty booking platform, acquired a majority stake in Bucmi.com, a Madrid, Spain-based competitor operating in Spain and Portugal.

Uala has made the investment along with Spanish fund Onza Venture Capital, an exisiting investor in Bucmi.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Co-founded in 2015 by Alessandro Bruzzi, CEO, Enzo Li Volti, Luca Mattivi e Manuel Corona, Uala provides an online and mobile platform to book beauty and wellness services. The company, which raised €5m from Immobiliare.it in 2015, currently features over 2.300 hair stylist salons and wellness centers.

Co-founded in 2012 by Pablo Lago and Javier Garcia de la Calera, Bucmi is a Portugal and Spain market leading platform to book services provided by over 3.700 beauty and wellness salons. The company was also backed by Wayra Telefonica.

Following the acquisition, Lago and Garcia de la Calera will continue to lead Bucmi while the platform will be gradually integrated with Uala.  In 2016, the combined turnover of the two companies was over €8m.
