Boom Fantasy Closes $2m Seed Funding Round

Boom Fantasy, a NYC-based fantasy sports company, closed a $2m seed funding round.

The round, which follows a small seed investment from Mark Pincus and other gaming angel investors in 2015, was led by Founders Fund’s FF Angel, with participation from executives and owners from ESPN and Major League Baseball.

The company, which has raised over $3m in total, will use the new funds for product advancement and player enhancements. In conjunction with the raise, Boom Fantasy has acquired Draftpot, a company that had raised $3m in funding, to double its user base. The purchase includes intellectual property, the technology and gameplay of Draftpot.

Led by Stephen A. Murphy, CEO, and Assaf Einat, CTO, Boom Fantasy provides a platform for sports fans who want a mobile-first fantasy experience. It enables players to answer a series of simple questions (e.g. Who will score more points tonight — LeBron James or Steph Curry?) and compete against other players around the world for six-figure prize pools.
