Astro Raises $8.3M in Series A Funding

astroAstro, a Palo Alto, California-based developer of intelligent email and workplace communication solutions, raised $8.3m in Series A funding.

Backers included Redpoint Ventures, Harrison Metal, Aspect Ventures and Upside Partnership.

The company intends to use the funds to hire new people to continue to develop the platform.

Co-Founded by CEO Andy Pflaum and CTO Roland Schemers, Astro aims to provide a smart inbox across different devices by bringing Gmail and Office 365 emails into one app, on both Mac and iPhone with Android coming soon, and then leveraging artificial intelligence to power the inbox, in order to enable the user to stay on top what’s most important.
The service enables users to clean up their email, unsubscribe from lists, archive old emails, and choose VIPs, get reminded to follow up on important emails and respond to questions from emails.

The company is currently comprised of a team of 12.
