Anchor FM Raises $2.8m in Venture Capital Funding

anchor-fmAnchor FM, a New York-based maker of an app to make audio on the go, raised $2.8m in venture capital funding.

The round was led by Accel Partners, with participation from the Omidyar Network, the Chernin Group, and audio artist Mick Batyske.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the platform and launch new features, including an audio feedback effect.

Founded in 2015 by Michael Mignano, CEO, and Nir Zicherman, CTO, Anchor wants to give everyone the ability to broadcast from anywhere, and instantly reach listeners everywhere audio is heard. In addition to telephone-mode recording, the app gives the ability to add full length tracks from Apple Music or Spotify, pull in external audio clips, and add high quality interludes from musicians and sound designers to be heard on iOS, Android, web, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and in car via Bluetooth.
