500 Startups Launches $10M Second Latin American Regional Fund

Global seed stage venture capital firm 500 Startups is launching its second Latin American Regional fund.

500 Startups’ Luchadores II Fund is targeting $10M in commitments to invest in Spanish-speaking and Latin-American founders.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC, a member of the World Bank Group) will be the first anchor investor in the fund. It is now seeking additional limited partners in the region.

Led by Santiago Zavala, Partner and Managing Partner, René Lomelí, Operations Director, and Daphne Salinas and Didier Quiroz, Associates, Luchadores II plans to invest in over 120 companies in Education, Health, Financial Technologies, Software as a Service, E-commerce, Health Technologies, Tourism and other industries over the next 2 years through the LatAm 500 Seed Program.
The seed program, based in Mexico City, will be a key component to Luchadores II.

500 Startups is the most active early stage investor in the LatAm & Spanish-speaking market with over 100 companies and over $8M USD invested in the region since 2013. Luchadores I’s portfolio includes Konfio, Conekta, Nubity, Rocket, Clip, Boletia and 99 Minutos, among others.
