Take-Two Interactive Software Acquires Social Point, for $276M

Take-Two-Interactive-logoTake-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO), New York City-based developer, publisher and marketer of interactive entertainment for consumers around the globe, acquired Social Point S.L., a Barcelona, Spain-based free-to-play mobile game developer, for $276m.

Founded in 2008 and led by Horacio Martos and Andrés Bou, Co-Chief Executive Officers and Founders, and Marc Canaleta, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, will remain with the company following the closing, Social Point currently has multiple profitable titles in the market including Dragon City and Monster Legends, which have been downloaded more than 180 million times to date on iOS and Android platforms in North America, Latin America and EMEA. In addition, Social Point has a development pipeline with a number of games planned for launch over the next two years.

The company, which has over 270 employees, was backed by Highland Capital Partners Europe, Greylock Partners, BBVA, IDinvest Partners, and Nauta Capital.

Led by Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO, Take-Two develops and publishes products through its two wholly-owned labels Rockstar Games and 2K. Products are designed for console systems and personal computers, including smartphones and tablets, and are delivered through physical retail, digital download, online platforms and cloud streaming services.
