Transplant Biomedicals Closes €2.5M Funding Round

Transplant Biomedicals, a Barcelona, Spain-based company which specializes in the preservation and transport of organs and biological products, closed a €2.5M funding round.

Backers included Caixa Capital Risc and Kereon Partners.

The company, which has raised €3.5m in venture capital to date, intends to use the funds to move into the clinical phase with its innovative medical device to properly store and transport organs to be transplanted, specifically livers and kidneys, cover technological development of the device and obtain CE marking to begin sales in Europe in 2018.

Founded by Dr Carmen Peralta and Ignasi Heras as a spin-off of IDIBAPS-Hospital Clinic, Transplant Biomedicals will begin clinical trials on a device to improve the quality and viability of kidney and liver transplants.
The company is currently located in the Barcelona Activa Parc Tecnològic Barcelona Nord.
