Former Marketo CEO Phil Fernandez Joins Shasta Ventures as Venture Partner

Phil_FernandezPhil Fernandez, co-founder and former CEO of marketing automation software provider Marketo, joined early stage venture capital firm Shasta Ventures as a Venture Partner.

In the new role, the entrepreneur will share product & go-to-market strategies with SaaS founders and the firm’s portfolio companies including Anaplan, Apptio, Glint, Lithium, Leanplum and Zuora, among others.

Fernandez is a Silicon Valley veteran, with more than 35 years of experience building and leading technology companies. He co-founded Marketo in 2006 – Along with co-founders Jon Miller and Dave Morandi – and led the company as Chairman and CEO for a decade, overseeing its IPO and acquisition by Vista Equity Partners.
Prior to Marketo, Fernandez served as president and COO of Epiphany, an enterprise customer relationship management (CRM) software company.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University and sits on the boards of PTC (Nasdaq: PTC) and several growth stage private companies in Silicon Valley and New York City.

Based in Menlo Park and San Francisco, California, Shasta Ventures is an early-stage venture firm investing its fourth fund in consumer technology, enterprise startups and connected hardware.
