Hemnet, a Stockholm, Sweden-based online real estate classifieds platform, received a majority investment from General Atlantic.
Online marketplace investors Pierre Siri and Henrik Persson also participated taking a minority stake in the company, joining existing investors Fastighetsmäklarförbundet and Mäklarsamfundet the real estate broker associations in Sweden.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In conjunction with the deal, Siri, Persson and Chris Caulkin of General Atlantic joined Hemnet’s board of directors.
Founded in 1998, Hemnet is an online marketplace for home buyers and sellers with more than 2.5 million unique monthly visitors. During 2015, 220,000 real estate listings were published on the platform.
