Bar Soba, a Glasgow, UK-based bar and restaurant chain, received a £3m investment.
Business Growth Fund made the investment taking a minority equity stake in the business. In conjunction with the deal, industry veteran Mohan Mansigani joined as non-executive chairman. BGF’s Gemma Hamilton will join the board of Bar Soba.
The company will use the funds to open a further seven restaurants, initially targeting Scotland and the North of England. It is already considering a number of sites in key cities including Aberdeen, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.
Launched in 1997 by CEO Brad Stevens as a pop-up restaurant, Bar Soba serves creative cocktails and South-East Asian street dishes in five sites spread across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds.
The company is on course to turn over in excess of £6m during the current financial year.
