Worldcoo, a Barcelona, Spain-based provider of a charity widget that allows e-commerce sites to fund social & cooperation projects through their users, raised €2.3m in funding.
The round was led by Caixa Capital Risc, with participation from Mnext and Alessandro Bianchi.
The company, which has raised €3.6m in 2016, intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations.
Led by Sergi Figueres Moret and and Aureli Bou, Worldcoo provides an online widget working via ecommerce sites from which customers can give €1 to fund social impact projects and causes from such NGOs as UNHCR, Save the Childeren, SOS Children’s Villages, Action Aid, Intermon Oxfam, and Jane Goodall Institute.
Once the NGO receives 100% of the total collected, the company receives the equivalent of 8% per euro. In the meantime, e-commerce sites such as LetsBonus, MeQuedoUno.com, Verticom Network, Zacaris.com, Cottet, Redcoon, PcComponentes, Promofarma develop their CSR policies.
